Jatayu - Fight for duty cleverly, whether you win or not

Pic source: Wikipedia
When Ravana abducted Sita, he had a battle with a great Eagle, Jatayu. Jatayu knew that he could not win the battle still he fought with Ravana- He destroyed Ravana's chariot dome, he killed Chariot's Driver, he cut Ravana's 10 hands of one side( Ravana regained hands same time ). Ravana had to leave Sita to fight with Jatayu for a moment. Then Ravana cut Jatayu's feathers and He fall down in the blood. Sita, took Jatayu in her arms, cried for him, praised his bravery and kept message, for Rama, to him. Jatayu kept himself alive till Rama reached to him. He delivered Sita's message to Rama and stopped breathing.

Actually, Jatayu had no concern with Sita or Rama. He was neither relative nor a childhood friend. But when Rama met him in Aranya, Jatayu promised Rama that he would safeguard Devi Sita as he found it as his duty. And he obeyed it in the future. As stated by Valmiki, Jatayu knew that he could not win the battle with Ravana, still he fought for duty to oppose abduction of a Pativrata Sita.

Notes:
1. Sita had close relation with plants and animals in Aranya. She used to talk with them and they used to respond.
2. Jatayu was clever, he did not only fought Ravana but also killed driver so Chariot will stop. Then he destroyed Dome so, chariot will loose Balance. He cut Ravanas hands so he could not take Sita with him( but he did not know about Ravana could gain hands back.) So this tells that Eagles must be clever enough to fight.
3. Eagles must be powerful enough to kill man(driver was killed)
4. Eagles must have mind to think on what is good and bad.
